Registration Information Explained
The following information is provided to assist you in registering your Superformance Mk III.
For your registration to be completed, you must have taken delivery of your car. That it, it your car must be in your possession. Things change between order and deliver and it is too difficult to track these changes. If your car is on order, you can still submit the information. Make sure the status in On Order. We will hold it until you take delivery. At that point, submit a second registration request with a status of Delivered and include the current information for you and your car.
The Superformance Chassis Number is assigned by Superformance and stamped directly on the frame.
Mk III
The Superformance Mk III Chassis Number is in of these four formats:
| AC9CSLK1***AM1*** | 17 digit form. |
| SP*** | 5 digit form. |
| SP00*** | 7 digit form. |
| AUS*** | Australian form. |
If you have a metal plate pop riveted in this location, your dealer has covered up the Superformance Chassis Number with you state VIN number. In this case, do not remove the VIN plate. Write "Covered by VIN plate" in the space for Superformance Chassis Number. In this case, it is particularly important that you verify the Car Number as indicated below.
Coupe
The Superformance Coupe Chassis number is stamped on the forward end cap of the upper right hand frame rail, just forward of the attachment for the front upper A-arm. Viewing the number may be partially blocked by plumbing and it may take a mirror to see the full number.
The Superformance Coupe chassis number is in the format SPC****. The asterisks (*) are four numbers that vary from car to car and represent the build sequence.
The Car Number is the shorthand identifier for each car.
Mk III
Most cars up through Car Number 590 have
the 17 digit form of the Superformance Chassis Number. The Car
Number is the last three digits.
For AC9CSLK1897AM1218, the last four digits begin with a "1", i.e. 1218.
But this is Car Number 218 not car 1218.
A number of cars around Car Number 570 to
590 use the 5 digit form of the Superformance Chassis Number. The Car
Number is the last three digits.
For SP585, the Car Number is 585.
Cars above Car Number 590 use the 7 digit
form of the Superformance Chassis Number. The Car Number
is the last three or four digits.
For SP00651, the Car Number is 651. For SP01025, the Car Number
is 1025.
The Car Number is also stamped on the hood hinges. Check either hood hinge plate where it is bolted to the hood. The number is stamped into the hinge plate. It may be partially filled with paint and hard to read, but it can be read. The number may also be written in grease pencil in the hinge plate. Use the stamped number.
For reference, Car Number 1000 was shipped in December 2000.
Australian Mk III
The Australian Mk III car number is AUS followed by the car number. For example, chassis number AUS001 is car number AUS 1.
Coupe
The Coupe car number is the same as the chassis number.
The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is the number that appears on your registration card. It can be either the Superformance Chassis Number or a state assigned number. Provide the number on your registration card.
The VIN for many Mk III's has a format which looks like an abbreviated 13 digit form of the Superformance Chassis Number.
| K1***AM1*** | 13 digit form. |
This is not the Superformance MK III Chassis Number and does not even indicate the format of the Superformance Mk III Chassis Number since cars with the 17 digit form, 5 digit form and 7 digit form of the Superformance Mk III Chassis Number all use this 13 digit form for the VIN.
